hi there,

i’m cassie!

In elementary school, I bound a few books for class, sometimes as a hobby too. My favorites are “My Totally Awesome Poetry Book!” and the short horror story, “Jonny’s Here!” Clearly, I had watched The Shining one too many times as a kid.

In college, I took an Artists’ Books class where I learned how to make ‘zines and explored other hand-binding techniques. For my final project, I bound in leather bookcloth, “Colors of My Father,” with a short nonfiction piece at the end.

I started taking bookbinding more seriously after college by testing myself to make a hand-bound journal for my nephew’s birthday. It came out beautifully, even with its minor issues.

From there, I started making journals for my friends and family, any chance I got– holidays, birthdays, or for no reason at all.

My goal with Pigeonhole is to create functional works of art for others to be joyous, silly, misunderstood, and messy inside the blank pages. Whether you want to hone your craft, plan your days, or simply jot down your grocery list, I want Pigeonhole to make space for all the doings–and undoings!
